My name is Chris Peterson. I make and study things. A lot of them have to do with the Internet.

I’m presently on leave from my administrative position in web communications at MIT as a full time graduate student ^[1] in the Comparative Media Studies ^[2] program, where I work with the Center for Civic Media on a variety of projects.

I’m also on the board of the National Coalition Against Censorship ^[3], a Fellow at the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution ^[4], and a former research assistant at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society at Harvard Law School ^[5]. In these capacities I spend a lot of time reading and writing and thinking about the Internet and how it impacts the way we all communicate and experience our lives. That’s much of what you’ll find here.

I also spend a lot of time reading about politics and policies, eating hamburgers, and trying to escape Boston for the New Hampshire woods whence I came. I’m allergic to cats and cat macros. I like kind people, Archer, and bouldering. Against all odds, frequent disgruntlement, and my better judgment, I am still a cautious optimist about the Internet and the world. I think.
